At least 5 deaths reported by violent storms in California

In the midst of an incessant series of storms, a powerful storm has wreaked havoc in California from Wednesday to Thursday, raising concerns over floods, landslides and avalanches.

Monday and Tuesday, Los Angeles received more than 1.75 inches of rain and San Diego picked up just over 0.55 inches of rain. AccuWeather meteorologists reported Wednesday that they were receiving two-thirds of an inch and 0.11-inch respectively.

The series of storms prompted officials to alert communities of landslides and floods, as well as to create dangerous travel conditions.
