Mark Gago: A man kills four members of his family and is shot dead while he is trying to kill another girl, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office

Portland, Ore – A man from Oregon's countryside killed four members of his family at home who they shared and was shot dead by sheriff's deputies while he was killed. he was trying to kill a girl, authorities said. Mark Leo Gregory Gago, 42, killed his parents, girlfriend and granddaughter Saturday night before MPs shot him, the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office said.

Neighbor Alice Burch told the CBS KOIN-TV branch that one of the weapons used was an ax.

"It was like an ax with a hammerhead, a long-handled hatchet," Burch said. "He watched the whale with everything he used."

According to KOIN-TV, the victims were identified as follows:

• Olivia Lynn Rose Gago (9 months), Shaina E. Sweitzer, 31 years old
• Pamela Denise Bremer, 64 years old
• Jerry William Bremer, Age 66

Sheriff's Office, Sgt. Brian Jensen said the causes of death would be the subject of an investigation.

"We do not know exactly what was used at that time," Jensen told the press near the scene on Sunday. "It was said that there were many weapons, swords and objects of this nature in the residence.The investigators are trying to determine what was used to kill each person."

The house is about 20 miles south of Portland. and northeast of Woodburn City.

The sheriff's office takes an emergency call from a resident of a home around 10:15 pm Saturday. The caller described a violent and agitated scene, said Jensen. The deputies arrived have found a situation "horrible", said Jensen.

KOIN-TV reports that "at that time," the suspect was killing a child, "Jensen said. The deputies then shot the suspect "and saved the child."

"I've talked to investigators, 20-year veterans, and they say it's a shocking scene," Jensen said.

A dead woman in front of the house and Gago attacking the child. The 8 year old was Sweitzer's daughter from a previous relationship.

A roommate also survived. She had what the members described as injuries that did not seem to put her life in danger. She was treated in a hospital.

Gago was arrested in August on a charge of possession of weapons. Jensen e-mailed that Gago had been charged with illegal possession of a weapon. He did not have details about the circumstances of the arrest or settlement of the case.
