Scientists from the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, discovered that there were many blood vessels previously unknown in the bones of mice and humans.

Gyunzer studied fluorescently stained blood cells in mice when they noticed how they passed into a solid bone. He started looking for information on this phenomenon, but found no explanation in the directories.
Blood Vessels Contain Blood Vessels
Then, he and his colleagues began research. They used a substance called ethyl cinnamate to make the bone mice transparent. Then, by combining an X-ray fluorescence microscope, experts discovered hundreds of small vessels crossing the cortical layer
. They then determined that over a thousand of these vessels were present in the shin bone. Through them pass 80% of the arterial blood and 59% – venous. The authors called them transcortical ships. Later, scientists were able to confirm the presence of these vessels and in humans.
Matias Gunzer himself spoke of the discovery: "We found blood vessels where they did not suspect to find it's a folly that remains of things we do not know about human anatomy. . "
