The Federal Aviation Administration terminated all flights from New York's LaGuardia Airport for approximately one hour on Friday due to staffing issues with the airport's air traffic controllers.
All departing flights were subject to an average ground delay of 40 minutes due to lack of personnel, according to the FAA website.
The FAA also stated that air traffic was delayed at the Philadelphia International Airport and at the Newark Liberty International Airport, New Jersey, due to staffing issues.
Flights from Philadelphia and Newark are delayed by one hour and one hour and 15 minutes, and departures from LaGuardia have been delayed for 15 to 30 minutes, the FAA said.
"We have seen a slight increase in the number of sick days at two air traffic control facilities in New York and Florida," the FAA said in a statement to CNN. "As with severe storms, we will adjust operations at a secure pace to match available controller resources."
The White House says President Donald Trump oversees airport delays, adding that the administration is in touch with officials Ministry of Transportation and FAA.
The Friday morning revelation comes as the government's partial halt got into day 35. The order comes one day after the airline's leaders warned that the Current closure was pushing the US aviation system to a "tipping point".
Paul Rinaldi, president of the National Association of Air Traffic Controllers, told CNN Wednesday that air traffic officers were committing "routine mistakes" because of the high levels of stress caused by the closing.
