At least 200 people disappeared as a result of the construction of a dam on Friday, January 25 in the state of Minas Gerais in southeastern Brazil.

The incident occurred in a mine of the Brazilian mining company Vale SA, informs DW.

In particular, part of the municipality of Vila Forteko was flooded. Vale SA has stated that in the administrative buildings of the dam there were people inundated with water and mules, so it is possible that the disaster claimed the lives of people.

However, no information on the deaths has been received so far. The dpa agency has referred to local media reports on the hospitalization of several victims. Residents of the disaster areas evacuate with helicopters.
