SYRACUSE, NY – A Syracuse University student who died Thursday was killed in a bus crash in New Jersey while visiting her family near New York, according to police the State of New Jersey .
Briana Herrera, 21, of Ozone Park, died when a bus and three cars were involved in an accident, state police said. Herrera specializes in information management and technology in iSchool, with a minor in public communication at Newhouse School. She was a member of Sigma Delta Tau, announced the university in an email.
At least two other people were seriously injured. According to NJ.com, more than 20 people were injured in the accident. Herrera was a passenger on an Adirondack Trailways commercial bus while traveling with her family, NJ.com reported.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, police said.
