A Washington baker who found himself at the center of the controversy at the end of last week said that he was only trying to be funny by writing "Build That Wall" on one of his Valentine's Day cookies.
Ken Bellingham, owner of Edmonds Bakery in Edmonds, Washington, says he started complaining after photos of the article – a heart-shaped biscuit with white icing spelling out the phrase – have been shared on Facebook.

"People were going [but] they knew nothing about me," Bellingham told KING- TV. "And yet, I was supposedly that horrible person."
Bellingham told the branch that he had written the phrase only on a cookie placed in his shop window, next to other "risky" cookies, some of which contain phrases such as "Sweet Heart" or "Addicted to Love".
"I'm trying to be funny," he said.
A customer who spotted the cookies did not, however, consider it advisable to shed light on the subject. first place, and told KING-TV that she felt that this phrase was too often used by the "white supremacists" and "the right-right".
Bellingham said that another person had even called for a boycott as a result of the violent reaction.

"I do not think building a wall will solve our problems," he told the station.
