But the 3-year-old boy gave a noticeable detail on those days in the woods: a bear keeps him company.
"He made a comment about having a friend in the woods – his friend was a bear," Major David McFadyen of the Craven County Sheriff's Office told CNN on Monday. "In the emergency room, he started talking about what had happened in the woods and he said that he had a friend who was a bear while he was in the woods."
McFadyen said that there were bears in the woods of Craven County, but nothing proves that any of them was with Casey. McFadyen said that all that mattered was that something was there to comfort him during the three days.

The 3-year-old boy will undergo a medico-legal psychological examination this week, McFadyen said, but for now authorities are giving Casey time to recover and settle with her family.
