TEMPE, AZ (3TV / CBS 5) – The police in Tempe on Monday identified the pregnant woman who was stabbed to death this weekend as 39-year-old Kristina Howato and 39, a man that investigators think killed him.
Howato, who was in the third trimester of her pregnancy, was a Lyft driver and was working when she received a claim for pick-up in the southwestern area of Rio Salado Parkway and McClintock Drive, Sgt. . Ron Elcock of the Tempe Police Department said.
Fabian Durazo faces various charges, including two counts of first degree murder.

Tempe police, with the help of the Arizona Department of Public Security and the La Paz County Sheriff's Office used a GPS to locate the Howato SUV near Quartzsite.
"The suspect was arrested at this location without incident," Elcock said.
Elcock also said Durazo admitted to stabbing Howato and taking his sport utility vehicle.
The details of this interview were not available immediately, but nothing indicates that Durazo was under drug at the time of the attack. Nor do they believe that Durazo and Howato knew each other before Lyft's appeal.
The police did not determine the motive, but Elcock indicated that the investigators thought that Durazo intended to steal Howato's vehicle when he would call Lyft.

Durazo is suspected of first degree murder – a charge for Howato and a charge for his unborn child – in addition to other charges.

Police said Durazo had relatives in California. He was arrested about 25 miles from the border between Arizona and California, according to DPS spokesman Kameron Lee.
Arizona State University confirmed to the family of Arizona that Durazo was not currently a student. He attended courses at the USS for one year in 2016.
