MP, an economist who has long worked for the Bank of Venezuela, explained that the credit institution is allowed to make transactions with gold: sell, install or exchange swaps. On his Twitter, he stressed that citizens have the right to know what kind of transaction the bank will do if it suits the country.

The media reported that on January 28, a civilian flight of Nordwind Airlines had left Moscow for Caracas, but that there were no passengers on board.

What's going on in Venezuela?

• On January 23, thousands of protesters demonstrated to demand the overthrow of dictator Nicholas Maduro, who once again proclaimed victory in the 2018 elections. Prior to that, he had been running the country for 5 years.
• The opposition leader, Huang Guaido, declared himself "acting president" of the country, recognized by US President Donald Trump. The following countries declared to support the opposition: Canada, Brazil, Paraguay, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Spain, France, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands.
• The dictator Maduro is supported by Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. The law enforcement agencies confirmed chain 24, that Wagner's mercenaries arrived in Maduro to protect the dictator from the protesters. In Russia, everyone is refused.
• At least 35 people were killed during demonstrations and clashes with the police, about 900 activists were arrested.
• On January 26, France and Spain reported having issued an ultimatum to Maduro. They require eight days to declare the elections in Venezuela, otherwise they will recognize President Juan Guadigo as interim president. The interim government of Venezuela reacted strongly to this request and said that no one would tell him when to hold elections.
