In south-west Poland, on January 29, a powerful earthquake took place. In the Rudna mine near Polkovice, dozens of miners were underground. The last miner was found the day after the fall of the mine on January 30th.
The shock occurred around 2 pm local time at a depth of 770 meters, local newspapers reported. During the earthquake, there were 32 miners. Some of them were able to leave the mine independently, but 8 people remained under the rubble. Seven people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
For the evening, the rescuers managed to shoot 5 miners, two of whom had contact.
The last miner was found the next day at noon on January 30th. The search for the missing miner lasted 18 hours. He himself was able to get to the car of the rescuers.
A magnitude of 4.8 was also felt in the cities of Lyubin and Glogov, whose inhabitants complained of the tremor of the walls of the houses.
Rudna is the largest copper mine in Europe and one of the largest in the world.
