RICHMOND, VA – Virginia Governor Ralph Northam was accused Wednesday by influential Republicans of supporting infanticide because of his comments on the delay of his term abortions in which the infant is severely deformed or unable to survive after birth.

The Democratic Governor and Pediatric Neurologist defended efforts to relax abortion restrictions during a radio interview on WTOP-FM, in a hypothetical situation in which a neonate gravely deformed

Northam stated that if a woman wished to have an abortion at the time of delivery, the baby would be "resuscitated if that were the wish of the mother and family, then a discussion would ensue "between doctors and the mother.

The Florida senator, Marco Rubio, was one of the Republicans to have denounced these remarks, claiming that Northam openly supported legal infanticide.
