A former Minnesota school bus assistant tried for assaulting young children was found injured at his home and a dead woman, police said Thursday. 19659007] Police conducted a health check of Harvey Kneifl, 72, after he did not come to court on Thursday morning for the verdict of his case. They discovered that he and an unidentified woman were "seriously injured," Woodbury police said in a statement.

The woman was declared dead at the scene. The police would not say if she was Kneifl's wife.

Kniefl was treated in a hospital for injuries that appeared to be inflicted on herself, the police said. NBC affiliate KARE 11 reported several counts of criminal sexual behavior based on allegations that it molested four-year-olds while working as a bus driver.

When he was found guilty, Kneifl risked a 25-year sentence on all six counts.
