Scientists explained why women live longer than men

In virtually every country in the world, women live longer than men

This was reported by the Air Force.

The average life expectancy of women is 74 years and 2 months, that of men 69 years and 8 months. Scientists have cited three main reasons why women live longer than men.

Genes

Men seem to be in a more vulnerable position simply because of the birth of a man. "Male embryos are more likely to die than women," says Professor David J. James of University College London.

Hormones

In adolescence, boys and girls undergo severe hormonal changes. The male hormone – testosterone – affects the development of bone and muscle tissue and makes a man taller and stronger compared to a woman. In addition, this hormone is responsible for other male characteristics – such as low voice or chest hair. The mortality rate of men increases with the increase of testosterone levels at the end of adulthood.

Profession and way of life

In areas affected by wars or armed conflict, the average life expectancy of men is greatly reduced, these dying during these fairly young events.
