Doctors have found that drinking first, be it beer or wine, does not matter. The hangover still can not be avoided.
The Journal of Clinical Nutrition does not matter even though a person mixes alcoholic beverages in general.
A hangover occurs after an abuse of alcohol. In many countries, it is thought that if one drinks beer in front of wine, there will be no hangover.
It was decided to control the doctors of the University of Witten / Herdecke under the direction of Kai Haensel. In 2016-17, they conducted a series of experiments and compared the strength of the hangover if people first drank beer, then wine, or vice versa. They were invited to participate in 90 healthy volunteers aged 19 to 40 years; 45 men, 45 women. They were chosen so that all participants (in a few cases in two) are of the same sex and age, about the same weight and size, that they drink about the same amount of alcohol and suffer from the same hangover with the same frequency. The volunteers were randomly divided into three groups – two experimental, 31 and a control group of 28.
Volunteers in the first group first drank beer, then wine, and volunteers from second group, on the contrary. Participants in the control group drank only beer or wine. A week later, the experiment was repeated, but the groups changed the sequence of drunk alcohol. The researchers measured the level of alcohol in the breath of all participants. The tests stopped when the level of alcohol after drinking beer was equal to or greater than 0.05% (0.5 ppm), after drinking wine – equal to or greater than 0.11% (1 , 1 ppm). In total, each volunteer drank an average of 1.3 liters of beer and 0.6 to 0.7 liters of wine. Participants in the control group drank an average of 2.6 liters of beer or 1.2 liters of wine. The brewery employees who offered beer did not participate in the planning of the experiment. The second glass was local white wine.
The intensity of the hangover that researchers measured on the strength of eight symptoms. Among them were headaches, nausea, dizziness, thirst. Participants rated each symptom on a scale of zero to seven, then all assessments were done.

It appeared that the sequence of alcoholic beverages or their mixture in principle did not affect the intensity of the mouth Of wood. Almost all of the participants in the experiments both appreciated the strength of their hangover pretty much the same thing. Scientists did not find a correlation between the intensity of the hangover and the maximum alcohol content in the breath. In both cases, women complained of a stronger hangover than men.
Scientists point out that despite the fact that they have not found any correlation between the alcohol content in the breath and the intensity of the hangover, it does not mean that you can drink a lot. There may not be such a correlation at all.
"Consuming too much alcohol can lead to a hangover, so you can accurately predict how you feel the next day by simply assessing your state of intoxication. pay particular attention to these signs when you drink, "says lead author of the study, Goran Kehling.
Consumption of alcohol can cause long-term genetic changes that will result in an even greater need for alcohol. Thus, the more a person drinks, the more his genes change.
