On Saturday 9 February, the winners of the first semi-finals of the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest – 2019 were elected winners on Saturday, February 9

. Jamala, Andriy Danilko and Yevgen Filatov, as well as viewers who supported the contest by SMS vote

According to the results of the semi-finals, three performers will follow the next stage of the national selection:

  • Maruv with the song "Siren Song"
  • Brunettes Shoot Blondes with the song "Houston"
  • YUK O with the song "Galyna Guliala"

In the final, they will meet with three other participants to determine in the second half -final, which will take place next Saturday.

The participation in the second semifinal, as in the first, will be provided by eight artists. They are Ivan Navi, Anna Maria, Kazka, Kira Mazur, Laud, Khayat, Braii and Freedom Jazz.

The six finalists will ultimately be the only winner to represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest in Israel.

Final national selection scheduled for February 23rd. The Eurovision Song Contest will run from May 14th to May 18th.

Ukraine participates in the "Eurovision" since 2003.

Since then, Ukrainian artists have won twice and in the competition (Ruslana – in 2004 and Jamala – in 2016), they were twice in second place (Verka Serdyuchka – in 2007 and Ani Lorak in 2008) and once in the third place (Zlata Ogniewicz – in 2013).

Worst Ukraine's performance at the Eurovision Song Contest remains that of 2005 in Kiev. Then, Ukraine was represented by the group Greenjolli, who, with his song "Together Us Many", took the 19th place.
