Golf is the most important model in terms of sale and compact car model. This model is expected to remain VW's bestseller for at least a few years. Even if the model loses the crown, the Golf will remain an important element for the German company and will greatly contribute to its growth.
For the first time, Volkswagen was talking about the new Golf at the end of last year and was presenting the first sketch. In December 2018, another banner image was released, which allowed us to better understand the overall profile of the car.

The first images of the teasers confirm that Volkswagen will play safely when it comes to designing a new Golf. It will retain the traditional hatchback shape, which is combined with shorter projections and lighter lines for a sporty look. The LED lights behind will be integrated with the turn signals and the LED headlights in front will become even more attractive. Dot Matrix LEDs may eventually appear, as in the new version of Passat for Europe.
The modifications will be much more radical inside the cabin, where the conservative layout of the dashboard can be replaced by a high-tech dual-screen system inspired by the latest Volkswagen Touareg. . The displays will be slightly smaller than in the crossover, but the proportions will be similar.
What's under the hood?
The Golf 8 will be lighter than the previous model and will receive a 1.5-liter TSI with cylinder deactivation technology. A smaller, 1.0-liter, three-cylinder turbocharged engine will be available in most European markets, while European customers will also be able to purchase a diesel Golf. It seems that it is the 1.6 or 2.0 liter TDI that the automatic transmission should remain among the best-selling versions.
Most assumptions also suggest that the next generation of Golf GTIs will receive a 2.0-liter turbo engine. power of about 252 hp and a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic clutch automatic transmission. At the same time, the new Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR will produce 286 hp
. A hybrid version of 48 volts for the 1.5 liter petrol TSI and the 2.0 liter diesel TDI could also appear.
When will we see this?
Volkswagen has already confirmed that the production of the new Golf would begin in June of this year and that, presumably, the first in line of the car should take place in the summer. The "Living" Golf will probably be seen for the first time at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2019.
