The first images of the teasers confirm that Volkswagen will play safely when it comes to designing a new Golf. It will retain the traditional hatchback shape, which is combined with shorter projections and lighter lines for a sporty look. The Golf 8 will be lighter than the previous model and will receive a 1.5-liter TSI with cylinder deactivation technology. A smaller, 1.0-liter, three-cylinder turbocharged engine will be available in most European markets, while European customers will also be able to purchase a diesel Golf. It seems that it is the 1.6 or 2.0 liter TDI that the automatic transmission should remain among the best-selling versions.
