A 4-year-old boy in Washington State found a loaded pistol under a mattress in an apartment on Saturday and shot his pregnant mother in the face, authorities said.
The eight-year-old woman, eight months pregnant, was watching television with her boyfriend when her son found the gun, the spokesman for the King County Sheriff's Office, the Sergeant Sgt. Ryan Abbott said. The shot was involuntary.
The woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was transferred to another hospital Sunday when her condition improved.
