Regan Smith, Emergency Manager at Sioux Falls, said the accident had occurred around 5 pm. CT. The deceased was in the plane, Smith said at a press conference Tuesday night.

Four houses were hit by the plane crash, Smith said, two of them having sustained significant damage. The Red Cross was contacted Tuesday night about the possibility of housing the families of these two houses.

The Sioux Falls Police Department continues to search the premises, Smith said.

"We are still investigating, there may be more deaths to come," Smith said.

Max Jamison who lives about two blocks from the scene of the accident, told CNN that other people have been driving to help them.

"It looked like a plane plunging its nose into the ground," Jamison said.

Joe Harris also ran on the scene.

"I was at a Christmas meeting with my parents when we heard the explosion and saw the fire," he said. "We walked about three blocks on the site."

A team from the National Transportation Safety Board was called to Sioux Falls to investigate the accident, and Smith said he was waiting for them on site Wednesday.
