According to police, a woman from Baltimore was stabbed to death Saturday after she lowered the window of her car to give money to a seemingly struggling young mother.
Jacquelyn Smith, 52, was in the front passenger seat of a car with her family when they stopped to help the woman, announced the Baltimore Police Department at HuffPost.
Believing she was between 20 and 20 years old, the woman allegedly waved a cardboard placard bearing the inscription "Help me feed my baby" while she rocked either a baby or an object wrapped around to look like, according to the statement of the police.
After handing over money to the woman, a black man approached the vehicle to thank the family, the statement said.
He then "seized the victim's wallet when a fight broke out".
