A man arrested for attempting to rob houses in an evacuation zone

A man suspected of attempting to rob two houses in Chico was arrested on Wednesday after being found in possession of stolen property.

At approximately 10:20 am Wednesday, Butte County Sheriff's deputies (BCSO) responded to a report of a residential burglary on Cable Bridge Drive in Chico

. The owners had been evacuated due to the camp fire and had just returned home. Deputy Ministers investigated the scene and determined that the suspect was no longer in the area

Approximately 45 minutes later, BCSO had been informed that a suspicious man had knocked on the door of the building. A person who believed that the man saw if the house was ideal for flying. The house in question was about a quarter of a mile from Cable Bridge's home, and the BCSO representatives reacted and contacted the suspect man.

According to the BCSO, the man later identified as Travis Olexiewicz, 42 years of Paradise, was found to be in possession of stolen goods from Cable Bridge Drive's home.

Olexiewicz was incarcerated in Butte County Jail for burglary and possession of stolen property with a bond of $ 53,000.
