A Louisiana police officer who had been shot in the face last year died Friday as a result of the collision of a pickup truck with his motorcycle during a funeral procession. .

The Capt. Don Kelly, who previously ran Totty's motorcycle unit, described the officer's death as "heartbreaking".
"Life was good for him, he had survived the impending death experience and everything was positive and he was fine," said Kelly. "What a tragedy that everything can be blown away in the blink of an eye, we all hurt."
