A shooting in the Varsity parking lot closes Spring Street

A shootout on the Varsity parking lot on Tuesday morning put an end to a block away from a major street in downtown.

Atlanta police confirmed to AJC.com that she was investigating after the killing of a man on the corner parking lot of North Avenue and Spring Street. Spring Street is blocked between Ponce de León and North avenues in front of Atlanta's iconic restaurant.

Officers responded approximately 5:45 am following the publication of the report. a report on the shooting of firearms. In the area, Captain William Ricker, a member of the Atlanta Police Force, told the scene.

"Upon arrival, they located a 23-year-old man who was shot in the lower limb," said Ricker. The man, who discovered a vehicle in the parking lot, was taken to Atlanta Medical Center in serious condition.

His name has not been revealed.

A police spokesman said it appeared that an altercation had occurred in the parking lot. and after the victim was shot, he ran a short distance before collapsing.

The investigation closed the access to the Varsity, whose opening is scheduled for Tuesday at 10:30. Ricker said that there was also a cigar bar nearby, but "whether or not he comes from there is undetermined at that time."

The TSB's 24-hour traffic center suggests motorists take Peachtree Street east of the downtown connector and Northside Drive south toward the city.

"It does not affect the drive to the city center to the north," said journalist Mark Arum shortly before 7 am.
