MOBILE, Alaska (WALA) – The teenager accused of murdering police mobile police officer Sean Tuder will be charged with murder. About six hours after Tuder's murder on Sunday, January 20, at Peach Place Inn, on Leroy Stevens Road.
Investigators said that Marco Perez, 19, had been arrested and accused of killing the policeman. Tuder and other officers were in the apartment complex to stop Perez. Police said Perez was on the run and was hiding from the authorities for nearly two weeks.
According to court records, he was scheduled to appear in federal court this month to be tried for possession of a stolen gun charge. On January 8, he was arrested for the first time in November 2018.
Police claim that Perez even simulated his own abduction in an attempt to avoid his capture. According to investigators, her mother, Tiffany Perez, told the mobile police that she had received text messages from her son's phone telling her that he had been kidnapped and murdered.
Investigators said they later discovered that it was a hoax. Tiffany Perez was arrested on Thursday, January 17, and charged with filing a false police report.
Police have chased several people to capture Marco Perez. According to witnesses, he was seen in a stolen vehicle on Thursday morning but was able to get away from the agents. On Friday, a witness told FOX10 News that the police were looking for Perez on a mobile home park on Hale Road.
The District Attorney stated that she would ask a judge to detain Marco Perez in jail without bail.
