A TSA officer about to die at Orlando Airport

Panicked passengers rushed past checkpoints leading to about half of the doors of Orlando International Airport after the jump of the man, which resulted in the closing and the delay of the checkpoints.

an apparent suicide, according to the Orlando Police Department, which described it as an isolated incident.

"Our heart is with the family of TSA in this very difficult time," tweeted the department.

The man jumped from a hotel balcony inside the airport into the atrium where passengers wait to pass the security.

The officer was declared dead after being taken to hospital, according to police.

The airport tweeted that passengers crossing checkpoints rushed for a second cautionary review. The detention and check-in resulted in delays for passengers who had to wait at least an hour and a half.

The airport warned passengers on Saturday afternoon to give themselves enough time to ensure safety.

"We ask you to be patient with the airport staff as it deals with this tragic incident," tweeted the Orlando Police Department.

The stops concerned had flights to Delta, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Norwegian, Aer Lingus, Air Canada, LATAM and Sun Country.
