At least six people were killed and eight others injured Thursday in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 near Gainesville, Florida, authorities said .
Trailer gear and two passenger vehicles were involved in the accident, which occurred approximately one kilometer south of Alachua. Relief services from Alachua County firefighters reported that the flames were lit after 50 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the road.
Rescue teams extinguished the fire and declared that they were treating the accident as an investigation into a homicide. The fire was so intense that the authorities said that he had damaged parts of the road.
The firefighters' relief organization said in a Facebook message that "several patients" had suffered "serious injuries" without specifying the number of injuries. At one point, the Alachua County Sheriff's Office sent a helicopter to look for potential victims in the woods near the highway.
