An armed passenger embarks on an international flight, according to the TSA, does not blame the error

An armed passenger passed the airport security of Atlanta on January 2 and boarded an international flight guarded by the Transportation Security Administration that should not be charged to the closure of the government.

After landing the flight in Tokyo, the passenger was met by Japanese authorities. The passenger was cooperative and reported the gun, according to a report in the Washington Post.

More than 51,000 TSA employees have been working unpaid since the federal government shut down on December 22nd, reports Bloomberg.

Personnel problems are not the reason for the mistake, the TSA said in a statement, adding that "the TSA had held officials accountable appropriately."

President Trump and Congressional Democrats have not yet reached an agreement that would end the partial closure.
