Due to Apple's registration rights, Apple began using Intel products to reduce the share of modems Qualcomm in the output of their smartphones. However, there were reports that Apple is also considering the use of modems by MediaTek in their devices.
Apple does not intend to place orders at MediaTek. For the 2018 iPhone models, it is expected that the Cupertino company will receive about 70% of all Intel modems, while Qualcomm will only place a small portion of the orders.
