The first part of the patent describes the problems related to two-dimensional recognition systems. It is because of them that the company has developed and implemented a three – dimensional scanning system in its TrueDepth camera for its face recognition function, appeared on smartphones, starting with the iPhone X. However, since the iPhone X, Apple Corporation has significantly improved the system, which is now virtually seamlessly scanning the user who wants to enter the smartphone.
The remainder of the patent describes the possibility of using the Face ID Touch ID in a single device. The smartphone first tries to use the face ID, in case of failure, suggesting to enter a fingerprint and activate the Touch ID. By the way, the scanner itself will not be implemented on the screen. Judging by the patent, the button will come back on smartphones again.
