Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was the rock star of the Sundance Film Festival – and she did not even perform in person.
The New York congressman, representing Queens and the Bronx, is featured prominently in the new documentary "Knock Down the House", which premiered at the Festival on Sunday night.
During a conversation after the screening, director Rachel Lears surprised the audience by announcing that Ocasio-Cortez would be live via video conference.

Each screening of the film was sold out for weeks before the start of Sundance, and viewers applauded each time Ocasio-Cortez would express it. The documentary follows the campaigns of four insurgent women in Congress, Paula Jean Swearingen of West Virginia, Cori Bush of Missouri and Amy Vilela of Nevada, but Ocasio-Cortez, the only winner of the group, gets the limelight.

Said the shocked voter. Another couple sitting on their porch told Ocasio-Cortez that, although they are Democrats, they had voted for Trump in 2016 because of his stance on illegal immigration. The candidate does not answer in the film.
