UVALDE, Texas (KTRK) –
A 12-year-old boy was charged with murder for the murder of a professional 24-year-old boxer in Uvalde, Texas, police said.
Boxer John VanMeter was shot at his home on Wednesday night
According to Uvalde police, VanMeter's girlfriend called 911 around 8 pm
When the police arrived home, they found VanMeter lying in the living room, shot in the head.
He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
This 12-year-old man is currently incarcerated in a juvenile detention center for skilled murder
. According to ABC News, the police did not explain how she linked the shooting to shooting, but witnesses said they saw a man wearing a black bandana on his face from the house. The police did not reveal any possible motive during the shooting.
The Uvalde boxing community remembers VanMeter.
