Cathedral of unity The future of Ukraine and its churches are created in Kiev and not in Moscow

(The Viewpoint ")

The fact that the first cathedral of the Ukrainian Independent and Canonical Orthodox Church takes place on December 15 at the Holy See in Sofia on December 15 seems to be a totally anticipated event In a few years, this date will be considered important, historical, but fully integrated in the logic of events, in the development of Ukraine and its people

About today, the declaration of Ukraine's independence is estimated Students and schoolchildren think that what happened on August 24, 1991 became evident with the expected evolution of the political processes, their relatives are quite ready to support this marvelous illusion. But in reality, all was wrong! A few weeks before the proclamation of independence, even the most daring optimists thought that it was still years, and the p US resident George Bush, senior official of the tribune of the Ukrainian parliament, urged us to support the renewed Union! The attitude of the public was not in the interest of their state – most Ukrainians voted for the communists in the first free elections, not for the activists of the Ukrainian People's Movement, and in the referendum of March 17, 1991, supported the Union State. Our declaration of sovereignty seemed only an attempt to occupy a worthy place in this country and, on August 19, 1991, many decided that this attempt could be forgotten – our place will be indicated to us by the GKChP.

And what to say, even after August 24, many who believed that the referendum of December 1, 1991 would end with the defeat of "nationalists". And if so, we should be surprised at the confidence of Russians, from ordinary citizens to Moscow media journalists to Gorbachev and Yeltsin.

The fact of the significance of civilization

And we will come back to it a few weeks ago. And we remember how many people were convinced that there would be no united cathedral, that there was no autocephaly, that it was not that's an adventure affair, nothing more. Indeed, there can be no Patriarch of Constantinople for a real conflict with the Russian Church itself, and therefore with Russia!

But it's weeks. I do not even talk about years. Even the experts were convinced that the question of autocephaly should only be solved by the Moscow Patriarchate. With what exactly is it necessary to negotiate? That without his consent, no Ukrainian canonical church is simply impossible. Moreover, it was exactly the case before the proclamation of independence in 1991, while it seemed to many that its proclamation was to result from negotiations in Moscow and not to have it. a decision in Kiev. And Volodymyr Vynnychenko went to Petrograd in 1917 to negotiate the fate of Ukraine with Oleksandr Kerensky – as a result of these two respectable policies, they put an end to their days in emigration.

No need to hear! Neither Kerensky, nor Gorbachev, nor Putin, nor Cyril! And not because it's bad to negotiate, but because all these people, for the state, for the church, for the society they represent, have never been to Ukraine ! And then, what can be the Ukrainian state, what can be the Ukrainian church? So it is strange that they have not imagined the very possibility of the emergence of the Ukrainian state and have assured us that an independent Ukrainian church would not be created itself as well ?

These people can only be put in front of the facts. The Ukrainian People's Republic was such a fact. The proclamation of the independence of Ukraine on August 24, 1991 was such a fact. The dignity revolution of 2013-2014 was a fact. And today, the Cathedral of the Ukrainian Independent Orthodox Church will become a fact of civilization. And this fact reminds us once again that the future of Ukraine does not happen in Moscow, but that it is created here by the Ukrainians themselves, who have not no need for the approval of those for whom they do not exist.
