Colobok in space: the craters of the asteroid Ryu gave fairy-tale names

The Japanese gave names to 13 craters and other objects on the surface of the asteroid Ryu. In particular, one of the craters called Kolobkom. Another object was called Cinderella.

According to thebabel.com.ua, all new crater names are linked to the names of children's storytelling characters and myths from different countries of the world: Japan, Netherlands, France, America.

As for Kolobka, the Japan Aerospace Research Agency (JAXA) has even added a description: "The round roll that has escaped from home". It is obvious that this character is well known fairy tales for children.

In addition, to name the landscape, the following names were used: Ryudzin (god of aquatic elements in Japanese mythology), Taras Urazima (main character of the Japanese legend about a young savior fisherman). Turtle), Cinderella (French – Cinderella), Brabot (the mythical hero who defeated the giant), Kinto (a supersonic child who grew up on Mount Asigara), etc.

What is Ryuga? This is an asteroid close to the Earth. It has an elongated orbit that, moving around the Sun, crosses not only the orbit of the Earth, but also Mars. It was opened on May 10, 1999. In October 2015, it received the official name of Ryu.
