The Davis record was 21-0. Ruiz suffered a fifth defeat in 44 battles. Previously, Vasily Lomachenko had said he wanted to fight against Gervonti.
The owner of the WBA wanted to destroy Lomachenko himself. Meanwhile, Lomachenko again left without a rival.
