A dog in Paradise, California, was found patiently waiting for its owners to return to their property after the devastating camp fire that ravaged Butte County last month.
The dog, named Madison, was left on the property because his owners were unable to join him when the camp's fire began to spread, wrote the K9 footprint relief group on Facebook earlier this week.
"They hoped and prayed that he would agree," added the center.

After being informed of Madison, a rescuer named Shayla Sullivan went to the burned property to monitor the dog, an Anatolian shepherd, several times before the puppy owners could return.
Sullivan, who also helped. to locate Madison's brother, Miguel, another Anatolian shepherd, explained that she regularly left food and water for the dog until one of her owners, Andrea Gaylord, can come back.
Finally, the time has come.
"When they finally received permission to return to the land where their house once stood … Madison was waiting for them as he was protecting his former home," wrote the rescue center in a message posted on Facebook, which prompted 17,000 reactions and more than 11,000 actions on Saturday afternoon.
"He had stayed to protect what was left of his home and had never abandoned his people!" Sullivan added on Facebook. "He did not let go because of the storms or the fire! A month later, it must have been for him!"

Many people on social media applauded Sullivan for helping Madison and congratulating the puppy for his loyalty.
"Dogs are the best of God's creatures," wrote one person.
"It's amazing! I wonder how he stayed safe during the fire and survived last month.God is good," added another.
"What a miracle, so happy for this family," wrote another.
The campfire burned more than 150,000 acres, according to Cal Fire.
