The grandfather of a 13-year-old girl living in northwestern Wisconsin who, according to authorities, escaped a man who killed his parents and kept her captive for three months said that she was "of exceptional morale."
Jayme Closs escaped Thursday. the cabin near the small town of Gordon where she said that she had been imprisoned. She approached a woman who was walking her dog with a dog and asked her for help.
A few minutes later, police arrested Jake Thomas Patterson, following the story of his vehicle by Jayme. The authorities suspect Patterson of being kidnapped and homicide.
Few things have been revealed about Jayme's ordeal since his kidnapping in mid-October, but details could be released on Monday when Patterson should be charged and appear for the first time in court.
Jayme's grandfather, Robert Naiberg, said Sunday that, given the circumstances, the teenager was holding out.
"She's doing exceptionally well for what she's been through," Naiberg told The Associated Press by phone. "She has exceptional morale."
On Sunday, the faithful told their faithful that their prayer was answered.
