A Florida fisherman won a big prize this weekend, but it turned out to be a huge load of illegal drugs.

The fisherman had just returned from the sea on Saturday when he had noticed a large floating package under a dock in Islamorada, Florida, a village located in the Florida Keys, said Sunday the County Sheriff's Office. Monroe.

He immediately handed over the case to the US Coast Guard, who informed the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, according to the statement.

"The fisherman said that he had noticed something floating and that he had used a gaff and a net to get him out of the water," the statement said. "The outer plastic was torn and it cut a corner, which revealed a white powder inside … The package contained 25 small packages wrapped in clear plastic."

The origin of the alleged cocaine remains under investigation, added the sheriff's office.

The mysterious package has since been handed over to the federal authorities.
