"The Wall Street Journal reported today that Lieutenant-General (retired) Michael T. Flynn has joined Stonington Global LLC and quoted a statement that she attributes to General Flynn, the General Flynn did not join Stonington and did not know that a statement was being drafted, but he had not intended to publish it at that time that, but its publication in his name seems to have been the result of a misunderstanding: "Robert Kelner, Flynn's attorneys. and Stephen Anthony said in a statement to CNN.

A statement Tuesday from Stonington Global LLC said Flynn was joining the fledgling group as director of global strategy.

The Wall Street Journal was the first to report the announcement declaring Flynn 's return to the board world after its ouster from the Trump administration and the guilty plea that followed the last year. Lobbyist Nick Muzin and his partner Joey Allaham told the Journal that they did not know Flynn but that Allaham had approached him about the role of the retired general.

They told the paper that Flynn's son, Michael Flynn Jr., was joining Stonington too, and that Flynn would need to get away temporarily while he goes to jail.

Stonington's statement included remarks by Flynn, who said in part: "I will work every day to put my 33 years in jail – experience in the defense, intelligence and security communities. as well as serve the presidents of both parties in the White House wisely to help corporations and governments achieve the goals of freedom and freedom.

Flynn's lawyers, however, have stated that Flynn knew that the statement was being drafted, but that the retired general "had no plans to publish it."

where Kelner told Judge Emmet Sullivan that Flynn was "eager to proceed with sentencing. "
Flynn, who headed the Defense Intelligence Agency under the Obama administration, became a prominent supporter of Donald Trump's presidential candidacy. Trump's ictoire in 2016, Flynn was named a national security advisor, but left the post shortly after Trump's inauguration in the midst of controversy over his FBI statements about conversations with the ambassador from Russia. Mr. Flynn pleaded guilty in December to having lied to the investigators and he is awaiting trial, while the investigation by Robert Mueller 's special advocate continues.
Officials told CNN, prior to Trump's inauguration, that the transitional team had requested security clearance for Flynn's son, who developed a pugnacious Twitter presence and broadcast online hoaxes, including "Pizzagate".
Muzin, until recently, was a registered lobbyist for Qatar. Elliott Broidy, one of Trump's top fundraisers who was criticized when his private emails detailing his commercial ties to the UAE and elsewhere were hacked and offered to the media, accused Muzin and Stonington Global of being involved in piracy, helping Qatari officials. Muzin repeatedly denied the accusations and said his knowledge of the violation came from his interactions with reporters seeking to comment on Broidy's e-mail stories. Broidy sued Muzin, along with Qatari officials and several former Western intelligence officials. Muzin tries to get the lawsuit against him dismissed with prejudice.
