Sébastien Vettel won Silverstone and strengthened the lead of the race. Hamilton finished the race with one second, and Raykkonen was third.
The leader of the Formula 1 championship, the German Sebastien Vettel, won the Grand Prix of Great Britain.
Lewis Hamilton started first after qualifying, but he began to fail – he immediately walked around Vettel and Bottas, and in the third round behind accumulated Raikkonen.
Raikkonen was given a penalty of 10 seconds and Hamilton took the 18th position and had to make several laps to climb to the top.
Hamilton made his pit stop as much as possible, but that was not enough to put the fight at least in fifth place.
Marcus Eriksson, who escaped to the breech for 20 rounds until the end of the race, was found in a safety car.
Under the safety car, the leaders ventured into the boxes behind the Soft tires. Mercedes did not go into the boxes, thanks to which Bottas went to the leaders, and Hamilton rose to third place. Vettel gave way to Bottas, but turned out to be fresh gum.
The riders did not have time to speed up after the restart, as Grosjan and Sains had done. And again the safety of the car went on the track.
The second restart took place for 10 laps on arrival. Vettel went immediately to Bottas, and Raykkonen – to Hamilton. As a result, Bottus not only bypassed Vettel – his worn tires did not leave the fight with Hamilton and Raikkonen. He tried to attack and Ferstappen, but he had a gearbox blocked and he was forced to get off.
Vettel, jumping forward, quietly took the case to fourth place in the winning season. Hamilton finished the race with one second, and Raikkonen became third.
