Former President George H. W. Bush will be taken to Washington DC aboard Air Force One on Monday morning to find himself in US state, in the US Capitol.
However, the latest flights of the 41st President of the United States will receive a special distinction, reports CNN.
] On Sunday, Bush spokesman Jim McGrath tweeted that the flights would be nicknamed "Special Air Mission 41".
The aircraft is known by many as Air Force One that only functions as such when the current US President is on board. As President Donald Trump will not be using the aircraft on Monday and Wednesday, the aircraft has been redesigned as "Special Air Mission 41".
During the flight from Houston to Washington DC, the sons of the 41st president, George W. Bush, 43rd president of the United States, and Neil Bush and several grandchildren, said CNN. Family friends on the flight will include George H.W. Former Bush Chief of Staff, Jean Becker, and Secretary of State, James Baker.
Also on Sunday, McGrath shared a photo of Bush's service dog, Sully, lying in front of the president's coffin. The photo was shared more than 14,000 times Sunday night.
Although his time with Bush is over, Sully will continue to serve by working with wounded US veterans.
Bush will remain in the state in the United States Capitol Rotunda until Wednesday morning, followed by a funeral at the Washington National Cathedral. Subsequently, Bush will be repatriated to Texas by plane and rest at the George HW Presidential Library Bush College Station, Texas, near his wife Barbara (deceased in April) and his daughter Robin
The White House announced Saturday that Trump and the first lady Melania Trump would attend Wednesday's service at the National Cathedral. Although their presence is not yet certain, it is likely that former Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter will also be present.
Relations between the 41st president and the other four men have varied greatly. Bush's note to Bill Clinton when he took office became viral in the days following his death, while Obama and his wife Michelle issued long tributes to Bush. Michelle also canceled the dates of her European book tour to attend the funeral.
However, Trump and the Bush family often disagreed, with the 41st president calling the latter a "hard blow" while he was working on a book published in 2017.
