The governor of New Mexico ordered the National Guard of the State to withdraw the majority of its troops from the southern border, criticizing what she called President Donald Trump. "Charade" shortly before his speech on the state of the Union on Tuesday.

"New Mexico will not participate in the president's charade on border fear by abusing our diligent National Guard soldiers," said Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham.

Lujan Grisham, elected first Latin American Democratic State Governor in November, said she rejected "the federal claim that there was an overwhelming national security crisis at the border South".
