In addition to his girlfriend and loved ones, 21-year-old Dakota Theriot reportedly killed his parents during a separate but related shooting in Gonzalez on Saturday, police said.

Elizabeth and Keith Theriot, both 50 years old, were at their home near Baton Rouge when the suspect killed them, said Sheriff Bobby Webre of the Ascension Parish.

When authorities arrived at the scene, Keith Theriot was still alive and told them that his son had shot at them, the authorities said.

A manhunt is underway for the suspect, considered armed.

Another crime scene 30 miles

His girlfriend, Summer Ernest, and his relatives were found dead in a house 30 miles away. Among the victims were his father, Billy Ernest, 43, and his brother Tanner Ernest, 17, according to the authorities.

Theriot attended Summer and lived with the Ernests for several weeks, Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard said. He was recently asked to leave the residence and not return, according to the authorities.

A 7 year old and one year old were found at home but were unharmed and are now with their mother.

Authorities believe that the shooting originated in a "dispute between friends," said CNN affiliate WAFB.

"This is probably one of the worst incidents of domestic violence I have seen for some time," said Webre. "For a young man to enter a bedroom and kill his mother and father, then kill friends in Livingston with whom he had ties."

The suspect was charged with first degree murder, illegal. use of weapons and home invasion.

There were no red flags before the two Saturday morning shots and aside from a mere charge of possession of drug-related items, Theriot had no other problem with the sheriff's office at Livingston Parish, Ard added.

On the Run

Theriot was last seen driving a gray and silver 2004 Dodge pickup truck with the Louisiana C583809 registration number belonging to the Ernest family , announced the authorities. He was wearing a blue sweatshirt, blue jeans and white sneakers and would be traveling east with the Dodge van, according to Ard and Webre.

He wears two tattoos: a cross on his chest and a yin-yang. symbol on his forearm.

The authorities estimate that he is armed with at least one handgun.

"We will use all our resources – all the resources we have – to bring this murderer to justice," said Webre. "We do not know what kind of resources he has and where he can run, but we do not think he has a lot of resources and means."
