On Thursday, December 27, a car carrying seven British tourists inside the bridge fell from the bridge on the ring road connecting the city of Kirkjubjakkarlustur to the Vatnajekul National Park in Iceland. Three people, including one child, died.

Four people, including two children, survived. They were taken to the hospital by a helicopter in serious condition.
The tour guide, one of the first to arrive at the scene, said that it was really a terrible accident.
