Note that almost half a century ago, Jan Palah, a student, had been arrested by himself January 16th near the place of the accident on Wenceslas Square. The guy poured gasoline and immolated himself by self-immolation to protest against the occupation of the Czechoslovakian troops of the Soviet Union. He wanted to awaken compatriots with the sense of human dignity and get them out of passivity. Three days after the act of self-immolation, Jan Palah died at the hospital.
