The information about the fire at the Maestro petrol station arrived around 4:30 pm, Kiev time. A number of n rescue vessels were immediately assigned to him. The gas truck was in place of the cargo handling, to which the ship "Candy" was also attached, which also flew to one side. According to preliminary data, the incident would have occurred during the transfer of fuel from one ship to another.

How many sailors were on board

On board the "Candy" there were 17 people, including 9 Turkish citizens and 12 Indian citizens. In turn, 15 sailors worked at the Maestro petrol station, as well as all Turkish and Indian citizens.

According to local occupation authorities, killed at least 14 sailors . Six other people are missing, but rescuers do not expect to find anyone alive because of the low water temperature. At the same time, 12 people managed to save, they are in Kerch hospital.

What we know about the two ships

The two ships passed under the banners of Tanzania and left the port of Kemruck in Kuban. Sources from the Russian news agency TASS said the ships were in an illegal car park. There were about 4.5 thousand tons of liquefied gas on ships' ships.

In turn, the Ukrainian Ministry of Temporary Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons reported that both vessels were involved in illegal deliveries of gas to Syria and had also entered the ports of annexed Crimea.

In Russia they assured that the fire of ships would not affect the passage of ships in the Kerch Strait. They also pointed out that there was no risk of firing on other ships in the strait. At the same time, environmentalists have reported possible pollution of the water zone near the Kerch Strait, particularly if fuel oil or oil was floating on the burned ships. Since the morning of January 22, both ships have continued to burn.
