Someone has included them in their intimate circle. It will only be possible to know if a friend with a green line appears in the list of stories. When it is displayed, the "best friends" icon appears in the upper right corner.
In the near future, the feature will be available to all users of the official client for Android and iOS. It's worth noting that the beta version of Instagram for Android works with regular releases – developers are not limited to Stories.
