Police in the Houston area said Saturday that she was interrogating "people of interest" in connection with the death by bullet of a 7 year old girl she was in a car with her family.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office tweeted shortly before 10 pm: "The investigation into the homicide of Jazmine Barnes has taken a new direction" and "Inspectors are in the process of" interview people of interest ".
The eventual role of the interviewees was unclear and no arrests were announced. The sheriff's office announced that more details would be published as soon as possible.
Jazmine was killed after an armed man reportedly drove. A red pickup truck fired on her car with her mother and siblings around 6:50 am Sunday, officials said.
The suspect was described by the sheriff's office as a white man, probably in his thirties or over 40 years. A sketch of it, The Sheriff's Office, which was created on the basis of a description provided by members of Jazmine's family, was published by the Sheriff's Office this week.
