He contributed to the drafting of historic bills, sat with 11 presidents and sat on high level committees. And beyond the Capitol corridors, his influence was just as remarkable on social networks – with the 92-year-old "Dean of Twitter" for his spiritual remarks to his 260,000 subscribers.

He said what we all thought

He was a type of guy filled with glass

He was wiser than all of us

He had Thoughts on Bernie Sanders

And d. still others about President Trump

He loved all Michigan teams

He remained upbeat during his battle with cancer

His sense of humor was unshakeable

He was keeping his followers up to date

His last tweet on Wednesday was a mix of his usual humor and reminded his followers that he was still fighting.

"I want to thank you all for your amazing words and prayers," he said. "You have not finished with me yet."

Dingell was admitted to a hospice because of his cancer diagnosis and died on Thursday, hours after sending the tweet.
