The products of the American company Johnson & Johnson are recognized as causing cancer – this decision was made during the jury trial in St. Louis, Missouri.
While recognizing the Johnson & Johnson brand in the production of carcinogenic substances, the court ordered a $ 4 billion 690 million dollars in compensation to 20 women who filed a lawsuit. The women claimed to have suffered from the use of the company's hygiene products. In their opinion, it contained asbestos dust – a carcinogen that causes the development of ovarian cancer.
The products of the Johnson & Johnson brand are well known all over the world. In Ukraine, there are well-known children's care products (Johnson's baby brand), skin care products (Clean & Clear), feminine hygiene products (O.B.), and various pharmaceutical products. After the court decision, reported Bloomberg, the company's shares fell 1.4%. But in Johnson & Johnson, the court's verdict has been described as "fundamentally unfair". According to its official representatives, the use of the product by the company does not lead to the development of cancer.
