(WAND) – Governor Bruce Rauner activated an emergency operations center in Springfield after reports of tornadoes hit the city.
The city of Taylorville announced the state of emergency following the storms that hit the area on Saturday night.

"We activated the operations center of the A state of emergency could closely monitor the situation, stay in touch with local authorities and quickly mobilize any state means that may be needed, "said Governor Rauner. "If the help of the state is needed, we are well placed to provide it quickly and efficiently."
Christian County Emergency Management Director Mike Crews said the storm had been devastating. However, no deaths have been reported.
The county asked the state for help in public works. The state emergency management team is in the city and will help assess the damage from 7:00 am Sunday morning to help the county's emergency services get better idea of infrastructure loss.

An emergency shelter was set up at Crossroads Church, located at 212 Jaycee Drive. A reunification telephone line has been set up by the American Red Cross for those seeking to locate family members. This number is (844) 319-6560.
Other ambulances were called to assist Taylorville overwhelming appeals. Mutual assistance was also called for firefighters and other emergency responders.
According to Ameren Illinois, 2,500 people in Christian County are without power. Ameren has several crews in Christian County and thinks she has 20 or more poles damaged.
The Taylorville Food Pantry will be open on Sunday mornings from 8 am to 10 am for free distribution of food products to those in need. The pantry is located at 1429 East Main Cross, Taylorville.

In Macon County, the sheriff's office said that a girl had been slightly injured when her home in Boody, Illinois, had been affected by the storm.
